Singapore port's container traffic in June up 8.7% year on year

PORT of Singapore's container traffic for June came in at 2.8 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), up 8.7 per cent from a year ago, according to the latest updates by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
This brings total box throughput for the first half of 2017 to 16 million TEUs, a 6.5 per cent jump from 15.02 million TEUs in the same period a year earlier.
Overall cargo tonnage handled last month climbed 3.7 per cent to 50.9 million tonnes, while the number of vessel arrivals clicked higher by 7.2 per cent to 12,273 on a year-on-year basis.
The Port of Singapore sold about 3.84 million tonnes of bunker fuel in June, down 6.1 per cent from the same time a year ago.
