Some bright spots for parallel importers as sales slide in first half

THE parallel import (PI) industry continues to slow down in 2017 with the number of registrations of cars not offered by authorised distributors sliding to 8,523 in the first half of this year, down 15.5 per cent from the same period in 2016.
This is in sharp contrast to the total year-to-date passenger-car registrations of 45,783, which is up 5.4 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
