S'pore-Okinawa charter flights set for takeoff
Direct service means flying time is cut by about half to just over five hours

SINGAPORE and Okinawa could see 14 direct charter flights between Changi Airport and the latter's Naha Airport between this month and January next year as SilkAir and budget carrier Jetstar mount services.
This follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) inked between Changi Airport Group and the Japanese Prefecture of Okinawa in March. They have committed to boost tourism and trade flow between the two destinations, among other things.
Singapore Airlines' regional wing, SilkAir, plans 12 charter flights in the September to January period - making Okinawa its first city link in Japan. It is using the Boeing 737-800 aircraft with business and economy classes.
