S'pore, US looking into trusted traveller programme for faster immigration clearance

SINGAPORE and the US are exploring the development of a trusted traveller programme to speed up immigration clearance for citizens of both countries, the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a statement.
Trusted traveller programmes typically allow citizens of both countries to enjoy convenient immigration clearance via automated kiosks at major entry points. Interested citizens from both countries can apply for the programme.
Singapore currently has similar arrangements in place with Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Singapore ICA commissioner Clarence Yap said the programme "underscores the strategic partnership between the US and Singapore, as well as the common interest we share in providing convenience and facilitating travel for citizens between both countries while keeping our borders safe and secure".
