Thales to work with CAAS for development of air traffic management technologies

FRENCH aerospace company Thales has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to collaborate on developing new air traffic management (ATM) technologies.

The MOU was signed by Kevin Shum, CAAS director-general, and Alex Cresswell, executive vice-president for land and air systems, Thales, on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow on Wednesday.

The two organisations will work together to analyse the impact digital trends have on the aviation ecosystem and explore ways to apply artificial intelligence in ATM.

They will also develop an ATM system architecture that will allow easy integration of new technologies.

Mr Shum said: "We believe such investments will not only enhance our ATM capabilities, but also make a real difference towards the sustainable advancement of aviation in the region."
