Trans-cab, Prime Taxi to raise fares
TWO taxi operators are raising their flag-down fares by S$0.50, as well as distance and time-based charges by S$0.01 from Dec 28, a fortnight after leader ComfortDelGro made the first move to do so.
Trans-cab and Prime Taxi announced the impending hikes in notices in The Business Times on Thursday (Dec 21).
Trans-cab had 2,109 cabs as at October, making it the third-largest operator in Singapore, while Prime Taxi was the smallest with 532 cabs. Strides Premier had a fleet of about 2,200 taxis.
With the fare hikes, Trans-cab will charge a flag-down rate of S$4.60 for its smaller taxis and S$5.50 for the larger Toyota Alphard. Prime Taxi’s flag-down rate will be S$4.60 for all 1.5-litre models and the Toyoto Prius 1.8-litre vehicles, and S$4.80 for the Toyota Noah 1.8-litre and Toyota Corola 1.8-litre cabs.
But the flag-down fare for Prime Taxi’s bigger cabs remains unchanged at S$5.
The distance and waiting-time fares for all taxi types of Trans-cab and Prime Taxi’s cabs under 2.5 litres will go up by S$0.01 as well.
These fare adjustments come after raises by ComfortDelGro, which has a fleet of some 8,800 taxis under the brands Comfort and CityCab.
These three taxi operators and Strides Premier recently extended the evening surcharge period by an hour, and also introduced a surcharge period from 10 am to 1.59 pm on weekends and public holidays.
