What is the future for liner shipping?

Published Tue, Mar 24, 2015 · 09:50 PM

WHATEVER else liner shipping companies might complain about, they cannot say that they lack advice on how to run their industry.

Actually, the liner shipping companies seem closer to cracking this problem than they ever have since wrong-headed political correctness forced them to - at least on trades touching Europe - give up the long-standing and proven liner conference system.

The formula appears to be think big at every level: huge 20,000 TEU (20-ft equivalent units) east-west mainline ships, larger ships on north-south trades, bigger feeder vessels and mega alliances.
