UMS' Penang factory resumes operations amid Covid-19

CONTRACT manufacturer UMS Holdings has resumed normal operations at its factory in Penang, following the Malaysian government's green light, the company announced in a bourse filing on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Malaysia's International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said that all economic sectors allowed to operate during the Movement Control Order (MCO) can ramp up their operations to full capacity from Wednesday. Companies that have been given permits to operate during the MCO do not have to re-apply to MITI.
Meanwhile, UMS' factory in California, Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Inc, resumed normal operations from Monday. The factory had been operating at a limited level since early April.
However, UMS' Singapore production will continue to operate with a lower headcount amid the country's circuit-breaker measures. UMS does not expect the temporary halt to have any significant material financial impact.
Shares of UMS closed at S$0.77 on Wednesday, up S$0.02.
