UOB banking on going digital in Asean with TMRW; Q2 profit is up 8%
UOB is likely to launch its next digital bank in Vietnam or Indonesia within the next few months, following the opening in Thailand earlier this February of its mobile-only bank targeted at Millennials.
At the bank's second-quarter results briefing on Friday, UOB Group CEO and deputy chairman Wee Ee Cheong said - somewhat cryptically - that the next Asean market to launch its digital bank, also known as TMRW (pronounced "tomorrow"), will be one with a "huge population base" similar to its first location, Thailand.
UOB had earlier said that it is targeting five Asean markets for TMRW.
