THE dollar climbed half a per cent on Wednesday against a broad basket of currencies as optimism about US fiscal reforms and hawkish talk from the central bank pushed bond yields higher.
Extreme short bets against the greenback has been one of the most crowded trades in the currency markets this year as investors have been disappointed by the progress on fiscal reforms and the slow pace of increase in US interest rates.
