US dollar mixed as investors digest economic data while sterling steadies

THE US dollar traded mixed against other major currencies on Friday as investors were digesting the country's retail sales data.
The US Commerce Department said on Friday that retail sales increased 0.6 per cent in December, while November's retail sales were revised up to show a 0.2 per cent rise instead of the previously reported 0.1 per cent gain.
