US: Nasdaq, S&P 500 dip at open on Fed policy caution
THE tech-heavy Nasdaq and the benchmark S&P 500 opened lower on Tuesday (May 21) amid policy caution from Federal Reserve officials ahead of the central bank’s meeting minutes and as investors awaited AI chip leader Nvidia’s earnings this week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.37 points, or 0.01 per cent, at the open to 39,804.40.
The S&P 500 opened lower by 9.44 points, or 0.18 per cent, at 5,298.69, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 58.78 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 16,736.10 at the opening bell. REUTERS
