US: Nasdaq, S&P 500 open at record highs after inflation data
THE S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit record highs on Thursday (Jul 11), while the small-cap Russell 2000 jumped after softer-than-expected inflation data bolstered hopes for Federal Reserve rate cuts.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 26.18 points, or 0.07 per cent, at the open to 39,695.18.
The S&P 500 opened higher by 1.30 points, or 0.02 per cent, at 5,635.21, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 11.80 points, or 0.06 per cent, to 18,659.25 at the opening bell. REUTERS
