US stocks open higher as investors await Fed rate cut decision

[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened modestly higher on Monday (Dec 8) as investors priced in expectations that the Federal Reserve will deliver a long-awaited rate cut later this week in a meeting that is shaping up to be one of the most divisive in years.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 16.5 points, or 0.03 per cent, at the open to 47,971.51.
The S&P 500 rose 4.8 points, or 0.07 per cent, at the open to 6,875.2, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 60.1 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 23,638.217 at the opening bell. REUTERS
