US: Wall St opens higher with focus on earnings, economic data

WALL Street’s main indexes opened higher on Monday (Oct 16) as investors awaited key economic data and major corporate earnings this week for clues on the US.economy, while also monitoring the conflict in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 162.13 points, or 0.48 per cent, at the open to 33,832.42.
The S&P 500 opened higher by 14.59 points, or 0.34 per cent, at 4,342.37, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 46.57 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 13,453.81 at the opening bell. REUTERS
