US: Wall St opens higher on Meta surge, Fed relief
US stocks jumped on Thursday (Feb 2), with the Nasdaq adding 2 per cent as Meta Platforms surged on rigorous cost controls, while a dovish message from Federal Reserve (Fed) chair Jerome Powell boosted bets of a softer landing for the US economy.
The Nasdaq Composite gained 248.83 points, or 2.11 per cent, to 12,065.15 at the opening bell.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 36.34 points, or 0.11 per cent, at the open to 34,129.30, while the S&P 500 opened higher by 39.47 points, or 0.96 per cent, at 4,158.68. REUTERS
