US: Wall St opens steady as investors prepare for August 1 deadline

    [NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened steady on Friday (Jul 25) following record closes for the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq in the previous session, while investors looked for signs of progress in trade talks as they braced for the August 1 tariff deadline.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 63.4 points, or 0.14 per cent, at the open to 44,757.28.

    The S&P 500 rose 6.7 points, or 0.10 per cent, at the open to 6,370.01​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.0 points, or 0.01 per cent, to 21,059.941 at the opening bell. REUTERS
