US: Wall Street subdued at open after mixed results from banks

    US STOCK indexes opened little changed on Friday (Jul 12) as investors booked profits in tech heavyweights and moved into laggards such as small-caps, while mixed results from major lenders kicked earnings season into high gear.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 29.5 points, or 0.07 per cent, at the open to 39783.28.

    The S&P 500 rose 6.2 points, or 0.11 per cent, at the open to 5590.76​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 20.2 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 18303.641 at the opening bell. REUTERS
