Virus spares no one - but telco yields still offer attractive shelter

AN EBBING tide may lower all boats, but some are still sitting higher in the water than others.
Part-infrastructure, part-service and all-essential, telcos have a reputation as defensive counters. The latest data continues to bear that out.
The three listed telecom players - Singtel, StarHub and NetLink NBN Trust - have returned an average of -4.7 per cent this year. The Straits Times Index, by contrast, has returned -11.5.
