Riot police called over fracas at Westlite dorm in Jalan Tukang
Frustrated residents had gathered to protest over handling of Covid case spike in the dorm
Singapore
WESTLITE Accommodation, which operates a workers' dormitory that was the scene of a minor fracas, said a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases at the dormitory meant that some infected workers were unable to be moved promptly to recovery facilities and healthcare facilities.
"Over the past week, there has been a spike in cases detected among SembCorp Marine (Sembmarine) workers. Due to the large numbers, there have been delays in conveyance to recovery facilities and healthcare facilities," it said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 14).
