WeWork expanded into Southeast Asia in 2017 with a US$500 million effort earmarked for the region as well as South Korea by acquiring co-working startup Spacemob and its two spaces in Singapore as well as one Jakarta location, at Gama Tower.

It opened its first location in Singapore at WeWork Beach Centre in December 2017, and will open another by the end of Q2 with three other spots in the pipeline.

It also plans to advance into Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Manila by the end of 2018.

"With Indonesia the largest economy in Southeast Asia, we are incredibly excited to create our legacy here by building communities to inspire greater innovation, collaboration and productivity for creators to businesses of all sizes," said Turochas "T" Fuad, managing director for WeWork Southeast Asia. "Along with our aggressive growth and upcoming plans, WeWork is at the forefront of redefining conventional work environments in today's rapidly changing era and we will continue our commitment of creating greater value for the local business ecosystem."
