PROPERTY developer Wing Tai Holdings Limited has set up a new fund management unit to look into investment opportunities.

It has appointed real estate veteran Chua Choy Soon as managing director of the new wholly owned unit WT Fund Management Pte Ltd, which will focus on investments in the Asia-Pacific.

The Wing Tai group will also commit equity alongside institutional investors.

"The current market offers opportunities for investments, especially for investors with a medium to long-term horizon and for institutional investors who are increasing their allocation to real estate," said Cheng Wai Keung, chairman and managing director of Wing Tai Holdings.

"Many investors are seeking a credible investment partner who understands Asia," he added. Having been in this region for over 50 years, the Wing Tai Group has developed keen market insights and networks which will benefit the business."

Mr Chua has been involved in real estate investment since 1995. He was previously with SEB Investment GmbH in Frankfurt where he was responsible for global real estate investments. Prior to SEB, Choy-Soon worked in GIC Real Estate, the real estate investment arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), both in the US as well as in Europe.
