THE World Wide Fund for Nature Singapore (WWF-Singapore) is promoting its current chief of marketing, communications and fundraising Vivek Kumar to the role of the organisation’s chief executive officer (CEO) with effect from Jan 1, 2024.

Kumar will take over from outgoing CEO R Raghunathan, who is stepping down after three and a half years at the independent conservation organisation’s helm to pursue personal interests.

WWF-Singapore on Monday (Nov 27) said its decision to appoint him in place of Raghunathan “followed a meticulous process”.

Kumar has been in his current role at WWF-Singapore since 2021. The organisation said he has forged crucial partnerships to raise the awareness of its work over this period, notably contributing to the inaugural WWF Global Earth Hour Summit 2023 which took place earlier this year in March.

Prior to joining WWF-Singapore, Kumar served as an assistant director-general at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).

He was also a member of the boards of labour movement entity NTUC Link, Enterprise Singapore, the Infocomm Media Development Authority, as well as Assurity Trusted Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GovTech Singapore.

WWF-Singapore said that under Raghu’s leadership, the organisation had “navigated the challenges posed by the pandemic, achieved significant growth in local conservation efforts (and) community engagements, and established strategic partnerships”.
