Yoma building international school in Yangon

YOMA Strategic Holdings on Tuesday announced that it has signed definitive legal agreements with Education Index Management (EIM) to design, build, and operate an international school within the group's Thanlyin Star City development area in Myanmar.

British College Yangon - which will cost about US$40 million to develop - is slated to open for the 2016/2017 academic year. It will provide a British curriculum enhanced for Myanmar and foreign students from two to 18 years of age, and will be located on 8.3 hectares of land within Star City.

Yoma will develop the school buildings and facilities, which will be leased to the school. Academic and operational management of the school will be overseen by EIM's subsidiary, Dulwich College International, with Dulwich College in London supporting as educational adviser.

Construction has already begun on the school; it has also received the required construction approvals, and is acknowledged by the Union of Myanmar Ministry of Education.
