Yongnam consortium back in the running for Myanmar airport
ENGINEERING and construction group Yongnam Holdings said yesterday that its consortium has been invited back to bid for Myanmar's Hanthawaddy International Airport pro-ject, after an unsuccessful attempt last year.
The consortium, which includes Changi Airport Planners and Engineers (CAPE) and Japan's JGC Corporation, was invited by Myanmar's Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to "enter into negotiations on the design, construction, operation and maintenance" of the airport and its facilities.
The project is on the basis of a public-private partnership agreement with a concession period of 30 years. Located near Yangon, Myanmar's commercial centre and former capital, the airport is expected to handle 12 million passengers annually.
