Deals site Ensogo axes staff as it shifts to marketplace model

Ensogo Singapore - formerly known as deal.com.sg - has laid off 22 of its 96 staff in Singapore, most of them from its services team as the company transitions from services to a marketplace business model.
The deals company - which adopted its current name after being bought over by Ensogo - released the staff around 10am on Wednesday morning.
A source told The Business Times that the layoff was not communicated beforehand, and the staff had no inkling there would be a round of layoffs.
"If there was notice it wouldn't be that much of a shock, but nobody saw this coming. People were very confused when they came in for work and realised cardboard boxes were on their table," the source said…
