Demand for medical malpractice coverage set to rise: AIG
Singapore
SINGAPORE'S rapidly ageing population and the rise in number of chronic and complex medical conditions are projected to drive demand for medical malpractice insurance in the coming years, says AIG Singapore.
In the next five years, it expects appetite for protection from legal liability in cases of professional negligence or errors in the delivery of medical care in hospices, nursing homes and community hospitals to rise by 40 per cent. It also expects the take-up rate for malpractice insurance by general practitioners, family clinics and tradition Chinese medicine clinics to go up 25 per cent over the same period.
