SANOFI is seeking funding from the US government to help develop a Zika vaccine as the mosquito-borne virus spreads across the globe.
The French drugmaker expects to make an announcement soon on the government's decision, Jon Heinrichs, head of Sanofi's Zika research and development project, said on Friday. Takeda Pharmaceutical Co was awarded a contract on Thursday for as much as US$312 million from the US Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority to develop a vaccine.
