JAPAN'S Sharp Corporation said on Tuesday that it expects to slip back into the red in the current financial year, showing that it remains a symbol of the declining fortunes of Japanese electronics giants relative to their competitors in China and other parts of Asia.

At the same time, Honda Motor Company and its two joint venture companies in China reported a drop in vehicle sales in January compared to their level a year earlier, illustrating the ongoing problems that Japanese carmakers are facing in the world's second-largest economy.
