Japan's planned coal-fired power plants hazardous to health: Greenpeace
It urges government to focus on developing renewable energy sources
Tokyo
JAPAN'S plans to build a large number of new coal-fired power plants have come under attack in a report launched by Greenpeace which claims that the plants could become an " important source of air pollutant emissions" and a significant health hazard.
The report comes as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government continues to struggle against public opposition and to fight legal battles in its attempt to bring many of the country's 50 or so nuclear power plants back on line.
