Paris pact: boon and bane for petrochem
Conference told that as carbon emissions are reduced, industry can provide innovative solutions in energy transition

WHILE the Paris climate change agreement reached last year will have a strong impact on the petrochemical industry in reducing its carbon emissions, it will also drive petrochemical demand, said major players on Friday.
"As a chemical industry, we provide solutions," said Olivier Thorel, vice-president at Shell Chemicals. "As the world focuses on responding to the energy transition, we see a variety of solutions coming through, and each of these solutions will require some kind of innovation from the chemical industry."
