CHINA Construction (South Pacific) Development Co (CCDC), a subsidiary of engineering and construction company China State Construction Engineering Corporation, marked its 30th anniversary on Oct 7 (Friday) by donating S$30,000 to the Migrant Workers’ Centre.
The funds were raised by employees. Qian Liang Zhong, managing director of CCDC, said: “We are grateful to our migrant workers who form the backbone of CCDC’s construction projects, and we hope that our donation to the Migrant Workers’ Centre will further empower the organisation to carry on its good work of championing fair employment practices and the well-being of migrant workers in Singapore.”
At the celebration, CCDC also relaunched its Best Safety Star Campaign after a two-year break due to Covid-19. The move was in support of the Singapore’s government call for measures to strengthen workplace safety and health (WSH) as well as improve WSH oversight.
First implemented in 2018, the Best Safety Star Campaign is the company’s annual internal safety incentive programme that aims to increase safety awareness and promote safety culture among its staff and contractors across their 40 active construction projects in Singapore.
