Deliveroo raised a sum of S$10,000 for charity organisation Food from the Heart (FFTH) in celebration of Singapore’s 57th National Day this month.
The online food delivery company partnered FFTH and rallied its customers to help the less fortunate by ordering dishes on its platform.
As part of the partnership, Deliveroo pledged to donate S$57 to FFTH’s Project Belanja! programme for all orders placed with participating restaurants on Aug 9.
The initiative is part of Deliveroo’s global community-focused campaign, Full Life, which aims to utilise its network of riders, restaurants and grocers to support communities in cities where Deliveroo operates.
Jason Parke, general manager of Deliveroo Singapore, said: “Our past collaborations with FFTH in helping hawkers tide through the pandemic and supporting disadvantaged students have proven to be successful. This year, we wanted to spread the National Day spirit and allow our customers to give back.”
FFTH chief executive officer Robin Lee said that Deliveroo’s donations would help feed over 300 local beneficiaries.
Among them is 69-year-old Serene Tan, whose spinal issues mean she is unable to stand for long hours, limiting her ability to work and prepare her own meals.
“Project Belanja! helps cover some of my food expenses. I can save this money for emergency use,” she said.
