THE annual Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) 2021 project was launched on Saturday (Nov 20) by guest of honour Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.

This year, BBSG aims to reach out to 44,167 beneficiaries, the highest number on record in the project's history.

BBSG will also distribute face masks to beneficiaries in government-funded ComCare Programmes.

This effort follows a poll on the changing needs among beneficiaries - conducted by BBSG earlier this year involving 166 social workers from more than 130 Social Service Agencies (SSAs) - where a majority of social workers indicated beneficiaries will gain from the addition of facemasks.

Henry Tan, chairman of BBSG 2021, said: "As we transition to endemic living, many families and individuals continue to be affected by the social and economic impact brought upon by Covid-19.

"The record number of beneficiaries for this year's project reflects how there remains a critical need for the community to band together to help those who are struggling to make ends meet. BBSG remains committed to help the less privileged in society, and the inclusion of face masks in our gift packs is also part of our efforts to meet the changing needs of our beneficiaries."
