Singtel joins Valuable 500 movement

SINGTEL joined the Valuable 500 global movement on Wednesday, pledging its corporate responsibility towards equity and inclusion.
The global movement, involving 500 companies, seeks to place disability inclusion on leadership agendas.
Asia's leading communications technology group outlined four strategies in its commitment plan.
First, Singtel pledged to create equal opportunities in internships, mentorships and employment for tertiary students with disabilities.
Its partnerships with SG Enable provide opportunities to students with disabilities to engage in work experiences and university career fairs.

Ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in customer experiences, Singtel will also look into inclusive design principles in-store and offer comprehensive product plans.
Additionally, Singtel will empower persons with disabilities to reach their potential through its community programmes such as the Singtel Touching Lives Fund.
Since 2002, the corporate philanthropy programme has raised over S$48 million to support special education schools and charities.
Last but not least, Singtel pledged to create enabling technologies that support independence and employability of persons with disability.
Through the Singtel Future Makers programme, Singtel has supported startups like CaptionCube with social impact initiatives geared towards disability inclusion.
Singtel's Group CEO Yuen Kuan Moon said: "The disability-inclusion agenda is a core tenet of our sustainability strategy. Being part of the Valuable 500 is a strong alignment of our vision to build a more inclusive workplace for people with disabilities."
