MORE than 150 golf enthusiasts teed off at the Tanah Merah Country Club to support a fund-raising drive by the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF). Into its 8th year, the annual Pink Charity Golf tournament on Friday (May 6) raised S$500,000, which includes a matching grant from Tote Board.
This year, BCF also officially opened the first Breast Cancer Centre (BCC) in Sin Ming Avenue. The facility will promote the BCF’s mission of being a leader in breast-cancer support in Singapore, through its communal space and curated activities for breast-cancer patients and survivors.
Ken Khoo, BCF executive committee member and chair of the BCF Charity Golf Committee 2022, said: “Golf lovers, including many men, have come together in support of this tournament, as we know that a disease that affects women affects us all. Both individuals and corporates can do their part to support the cause, whether it is through making a donation or spreading the word about early detection.”
James Lye, managing director at Citibank’s offshore wealth-management business, was the Men’s Champion; Stephanie Bradshaw, partner at AIC Capital, emerged the Women’s Champion.
Lye said: “My friends and I chanced upon Tee For Pink Charity Golf a couple of years ago, and we have continued to take part and spread the word for the breast-cancer awareness cause since then. I would like to encourage more men to play an active role and support this worthy cause.”
