SINGAPORE policymakers and businesses must maintain the momentum of their sustainability journey by closing the gaps in coverage, Sanda Ojiambo, assistant secretary-general and chief executive of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, told The Business Times.

Furthermore, they must do this in a world that has been rocked by geopolitical, social and environmental upheavals, where longer-term sustainability issues are being weighed against myriad shorter-term challenges.

“The events of the last two to three years have been unprecedented,” said Ojiambo, whose organisation is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
