Emerging Enterprise Awards go regional, Sustainability Award expanded
FROM 2023, Singapore’s Emerging Enterprise (EE) Awards will be open to companies from the region, while the existing Sustainability Award will be expanded.
Jointly organised by The Business Times and OCBC, the awards – now in their 15th year – celebrate and recognise local young enterprises who have demonstrated business innovation, resilience and excellence.
“Tonight, I am happy to announce that the Emerging Enterprise Award is going green and going regional,” said OCBC head of global commercial banking Linus Goh on Tuesday (Nov 22) night, at this year’s EE Awards ceremony at Shangri-La Singapore.
OCBC and The Business Times will be co-presenters of the Emerging Enterprise Sustainability Award, which recognises emerging enterprises that are capitalising on growth opportunities in the green economy, embedding sustainability in their businesses, and leveraging technology and new solutions for the low-carbon transition.
This award is an expansion of the existing Sustainability Award category within the EE Awards, which was introduced in 2019. “Given the increasing importance of sustainability, we will elevate the award category in sustainability to the same prestige as the flagship Emerging Enterprise Award,” said Goh.
“We hope to encourage and showcase the many startups and young businesses that are driving the shift to sustainability in green buildings, clean transportation, renewable energy, energy efficiency and many other areas,” he added.
From next year, nominations for both the EE Award and the EE Sustainability Award will be accepted from Asean and Greater China.
Since the awards began 15 years ago, over 8,000 companies have participated, Goh noted. “The overwhelming response to this award and the added success that it has helped to bring to past winners has left us with a deeper conviction in our purpose, especially to help small businesses succeed.”
