AGE is just a number, as some of the region’s most innovative and sustainable companies demonstrated at this year’s Emerging Enterprise Awards, held on Nov 20 at the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach.
Seven early-stage enterprises from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong bagged top honours at the awards’ 18th edition, which seeks to recognise the innovation, resilience and excellence of businesses under 10 years old.
The Emerging Enterprise Award was conferred to Singapore-based Evo Commerce and Mesh Bio, as well as Malaysia-based Dodo Ventures. The three firms displayed enterprising mindsets that drove consistent, significant and sustainable growth, as well as the ability to scale and expand overseas.
Evo Commerce offers affordable premium grooming and beauty products; Mesh Bio specialises in clinical decision support and automation for chronic disease management; and Malaysia-based Dodo Ventures makes effective and stylish pimple patches.
The Emerging Enterprise Sustainability Award, which recognises firms that capitalise on growth opportunities in the green economy, went to Singapore-based Hydroleap, Malaysia-based Green Environmental Engineering, and Hong-Kong-based My-Care Healthcare.
Hydroleap offers wastewater treatment solutions; Green Environmental Engineering delivers integrated sustainability solutions across various environmental challenges; and My-Care Healthcare manufactures food for patients with difficulty swallowing or those with diabetes and kidney disease.
The Most Promising Start-up Award went to Hivebotics, a Singapore startup in the field of artificial-intelligence-driven facility management robotics.
The Emerging Enterprise Awards is jointly organised by The Business Times and OCBC. It is supported by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Enterprise Singapore, Mastercard, Paia Consulting, Rajah & Tann Asia and RSM Singapore.
Close to 600 applications from a wide range of industries were received this year, with over a third from Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia.
