Asian equities: coast is far from clear

Even though the beginning of a financial crisis is ruled out, analysts expect turbulence for some time.

PANIC selling on some Asian bourses appeared to have abated somewhat on Tuesday, but the coast is far from clear.

On Tuesday the Chinese central bank cut interest rates for the fifth time since November, sparking a bounce in European stock markets and an uplift in US stock index futures.

But strategists continue to advise caution: While the Chinese central bank is widely expected to mount further policy stimulus measures, investors may have to brace themselves for yet more selling, as a veritable perfect storm of fears converge.
