Investing in a post-Brexit environment
After initial sell-off, risk assets have recovered much of their losses and volatilities are back to average; but it is too early for an all-clear.
AS we entered the second half of 2016, we witnessed the unprecedented vote by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. The vote for Brexit caught markets by surprise.
Accordingly, riskier markets responded initially with large sell-offs. This, together with the US Federal Reserve's interest-rate discussions and the uninspiring valuation of equity markets, left the latter and some of the riskier fixed income markets vulnerable to bad news.
