New type of fund emerges

SHARPLY volatile markets and an uncertain outlook are pushing investors towards alternative types of funds.
JP Morgan Asset Management has launched a new fund here, the Global Macro Opportunities Fund, which has an absolute return target of cash plus 7 per cent.
Olivia Mayell, the firm's managing director, said banks and distributors are looking for more absolute return funds, and this is something investors seemed to need.
