Golden Gate Ventures appoints Angela Toy as partner for portfolio growth
VENTURE capital (VC) firm Golden Gate Ventures has appointed a new partner, Angela Toy, for portfolio growth.
Ms Toy will work closely with portfolio companies to sharpen their growth strategies in the critical areas of talent, business development and fundraising, said Golden Gate on Tuesday.
The firm noted that the maturation of South-east Asia's ecosystem has created a generation of entrepreneurs who are raising funding earlier and looking for VCs that provide more than just capital.
Ms Toy started at Golden Gate as employee number two. She worked closely with startups such as Alodoktor, Loship, Appota and Perx to help set a strategy and connect to investors.
Born and raised in Singapore, Ms Toy began her career in financial services and ran an e-commerce website on the side. She started at Golden Gate as a programmes and operations specialist, later becoming the head of operations and finance.
In the last three years, she was part of the senior management team and drove portfolio management, finance and operations.
