Resilience of on-demand delivery startups tested amid Covid-19 crunch time

STARTUPS in Singapore's on-demand delivery ecosystem - spanning food and grocery delivery, and last-mile logistics - are bracing for a surge in demand and tougher operating conditions amid the shutdown of most workplaces and a freeze on dining out during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The authorities have rolled out some support. But with such on-demand delivery players yet to turn a profit and prove their sustainability, industry watchers have raised concerns about whether the startups can keep up with demand while controlling costs.
On Saturday, Enterprise Singapore (ESG) rolled out a package to support food and beverage (F&B) players in getting on board GrabFood, foodpanda and Deliveroo.
