THE global spread of the novel coronavirus has revived concern over Singapore's economic reliance on rank-and-file workers from overseas - including from mainland China, where the respiratory disease originated.
With some staff either unable to return from China or put on mandatory leave of absence, companies in the construction, manufacturing and services sectors face an immediate manpower shortfall to varying degrees.
