As US shutdown deadline nears, all eyes on Boehner

HOUSE Republican leaders haven't proposed a way to avoid another US government shutdown as Speaker John Boehner tries to resolve an intraparty fight over funding for Planned Parenthood.
Representative Hal Rogers, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, said on Wednesday evening that he has a bill ready to finance the government after Sept 30 that doesn't take away funds from the women's health provider. He said he's waiting for a decision from Mr Boehner on how to proceed.
