SINGAPORE has secured at least 66 new events for the rest of 2022, including some that were relocated from Hong Kong, as the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) industry ramps up activities in the second half of this year.

This includes the return of some marquee international events, such as Food Hotels Asia Food and Beverage and Food Hotels Asia HoReCa, said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Wednesday (Jun 1). Both events will take place at Singapore Expo in September and October respectively and are expected to have more than 30,000 physical attendees each.

Jewellery and Gem World Singapore, SuperReturn Asia and Cosmoprof Asia - all of which were previously held in Hong Kong - have been moved to Singapore this year due to the ongoing pandemic situation there.

Wine and spirits exhibition Vinexpo Asia will similarly be moving to Singapore next year, also from Hong Kong where it was held for more than 20 years, organiser Vinexposium said earlier in May.

Among the other major events in the later part of 2022 include the fifth annual Bloomberg New Economy Forum, which was last held here in November 2021 with over 300 current and former heads of state, global CEOs and public sector leaders in attendance.

Some events in the 2023 line-up have also been confirmed. Among the events which will be hosted in Singapore include the Gastech Exhbition and Conference, the Asia CEO Summit, and FIND - Design Fair Asia.

The world’s largest trademark event - International Trademark Association’s 2023 Annual Meeting Live+ - will also be held here for the first time next May, welcoming brand owners and intellectual property professionals from more than 100 countries.

With the return of Mice activities on a much-larger scale, the busiest venues will be the Sands Expo and Exhibition Centre; Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre; and Singapore Expo.

Events held at Singapore Expo include Asia’s flagship tech event Asia Tech x Singapore, MRO Asia-Pacific and Natural Disaster Expo Asia, venue manager Constellar said on Tuesday.

The local Mice company will also play host to several business and consumer events, such as the Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific 2021, Singapore FinTech Festival, Comex and the inaugural Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia.

“With the return of events and visitor traffic to Singapore Expo, Constellar will continue to roll out more features to augment the customer experience, including sustainability investments that will accelerate its journey towards carbon neutrality,” said Constellar.

STB said in its release: “The robust pipeline of Mice events reflects event organisers’ confidence in Singapore’s fundamentals - its vibrant business culture, excellent infrastructure, stable government and stellar track record in delivering high-quality events.”
