Bankruptcy filing will not impact S'pore operations: Gate

Prepackaged plan of reorganisation will allow it to reduce its US$1.12b funded debt to US$665m

IT is business as usual for Singapore-based chip company Global A&T Electronics (Gate), even after the company filed for bankruptcy in New York on Sunday, The Business Times has learnt.

None of Gate's operations or 1,300 employees in Singapore will be impacted by its Chapter 11 filing in the US Bankruptcy Court. There is also no impact to the firm's employees, customers and suppliers globally, according to Roger Ng, Gate's director for investor relations and treasury.
