Beijing needs to hold urgent talks with key partners in global economy

It should resolve issues that have created tensions with US and UK, its main trading partners

CHINA'S government has threatened retaliation against its main trading partners, the United States and the United Kingdom, as several recent high-profile incidents have seen a rise in tensions.

Last Friday, the US ordered the closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston over spying claims. The UK government, meanwhile, is under increasing pressure to cancel its extradition treaty with Hong Kong, and Beijing is unhappy about the UK's withdrawal from major contracts with big Chinese companies such as Huawei.
