Board changes at EDB, A*Star and IE Singapore

THE Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has announced board appointment changes at the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.

At the EDB, assistant secretary general of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Patrick Tay Teck Guan has been appointed to the board. Meanwhile, two board members will be re-appointed from Feb 1 - ST Engineering chief executive Tan Pheng Hock and Jean-Luc Butel, president of K8 Global and senior adviser to McKinsey & Company.

Three EDB board members will be stepping down upon the completion of their terms on Jan 31. They are Kwek Mean Luck, second solicitor-general for the Attorney General Chambers, assistant secretary-general & director (industrial relations) for NTUC Cham Hui Fong, and EDB independent director Bruno Guilmart.

Over at A*Star, Dr Tatsumi Yamazaki, distinguished adviser to Chugai Pharmaceutical Co, has been appointed to A*Star's board, and two board members will be re-appointed from Feb 1.

They are Dr William Chin, executive vice-president (scientific and regulatory affairs) at PhRMA, and Lam Yi Young, deputy secretary (policy) for Ministry of Education.

Dr Tadataka Yamada, venture partner at Frazier Healthcare, will be stepping down upon the completion of his term on Jan 31.

Meanwhile, MTI has re-appointed Seah Moon Ming as the chairman of IE Singapore. Three board members were also re-appointed to IE Singapore's board: BG Lim Tuang Liang, chief of staff (air staff) for Mindef, Sirius Venture Capital founder Eugene Wong, and Tan Chong Meng, group chief executive of PSA International.

"MTI extends its appreciation to all outgoing board members for their invaluable contributions and welcomes the new board members," said MTI in a release on Friday.
